The Red Arrow
The Red Arrow Condominiums were built in 1961 as the Red Arrow Apartments. In 2004, they were condominimized. I had the pleasure of selling one of these units back in 2006. My client fell in love with the mid-century modern styling and intimacy of the ten unit complex. Her place was in rough condition when purchased but she has since renovated her home into a showplace.
Conveniently located in the south western portion of the Old North Boulder Neighborhood, it's a short walk to Downtown, the Ideal Broadway Shops and Community Plaza Shopping Center. The complex is laid out in two hexagonal buildings with five units in each. As stunning as the exterior is, the bird's eye view of the two buildings is just as striking.
The interior of each unit is identical and perfectly laid out. Each has a wall of glass, on either side of a fire-burning fireplace, that looks onto a patio and yard. Brick walls adorn the kitchen, dining room and one side of the bedroom walls. The two upstiars bedrooms have beautiful clearstory windows and the master bedroom has a private balcony.
The name Red Arrow is apparent when looking up at the vaulted living room ceiling as the structural beams form an arrow shape.
In addition to the many interior updates, some owners have captured the space below the master bedroom balcony and created additional indoor space. The Home Owner Association has cautiously allowed these expansions, ensuring that no architectural significance is lost. Additionally, the HOA has consistnetly updated exterior features. Recent improvements include modernized entries and a new fence.
